ForgeBASIC 1.0.0 Stable is now available

ForgeBASIC 1.0.0 Stable is now available!

After months of development, ForgeBASIC has reached its first stable release.

ForgeBASIC is a modern BASIC language and IDE designed especially for 2D game development, while keeping the simplicity and immediacy traditionally associated with BASIC.

Version 1.0.0 provides a complete workflow for creating, testing and building a Windows game directly from the ForgeBASIC IDE.

Highlights of this release include:

• A complete visual 2D Level Editor

• Sprites, Bitmaps, Colliders and Markers

• Camera2D support

• Scene Tree and Inspector

• Grid, snapping, pan, zoom and multi-selection

• Scene Undo/Redo

• Generate Code for .fscene2d scenes

• Integrated bilingual documentation in English and Italian

• Syntax highlighting, autocomplete, formatting and code folding

• Find in Project and Quick Navigation

• Centralized IDE and editor settings

• Recent Files and Recent Projects

• Custom project resolution and Windowed/Fullscreen mode

• Custom executable name and application icon

• Direct Windows game builds from the IDE

• Built games launch without an additional console window

The package also includes Forge Breaker, a complete editable 2D example project that can be opened, modified, run and built directly with ForgeBASIC.

This release marks the end of the old pre-alpha naming. From now on, ForgeBASIC releases will use standard version numbers, starting with 1.0.0.

Development will continue with UX improvements, language modernization, further runtime improvements and future preparation for 3D support.

Thank you to everyone who has followed, downloaded and tested ForgeBASIC so far.

Feedback and bug reports are always welcome.
